Days 14-20

Quick update for the last week...

I have been SO freaking busy trying to get everything done on my vacation that I really haven't had time to journal what I've been eating and now I can't remember.

Last Sunday I went out for a hibachi lunch with one of my friends, and as everyone knows that eats that, it's a sodium-fest, and as a result, I was up to 227.5 the next morning. I wasn't really surprised.

The last week I've done okay. Not great, but not bad either. I've been making better choices, eating grilled chicken, lean beef, lots of whole-grain cereal with skim milk, whole wheat bread, fruit, Healthy Choice meals, etcetera, and it's gone okay. I've been trying to drink as many fluids as possible.

Workouts...still haven't made it to the gym, and since McKenna and I have been running around a lot, we haven't been doing much Baby Bjorn walking. I think I walked the dogs three times for about forty minutes each time.

Yesterday I went to a baby shower AND a crop party, plus we were out of milk in the morning so I couldn't have cereal...just had string cheese and whole wheat toast before I left the house. And Thursday I went to a hockey game, so that was a junk food fest.

In other words, I'm not expecting a lot for my weigh-in tomorrow. It's very hard to get on a normal routine when my schedule is so different every day. But I'm back to work on Wednesday, and we'll see how it goes then.

Thanks to everyone who has stopped by and wondered how I was doing. I'll try to start journaling my foods again.

Workout:
I walked the dogs this morning by myself for thirty minutes.

Comments:
Way too carby and free today. I was starving. I also got a lecture from the lady that gave me a facial this afternoon about not drinking enough fluids since I'm breastfeeding...apparently the evidence that I'm not well-hydrated is IN MY FACE that she got to see up close and personal.

Day 12

Eats:

#1: 1 c whole grain raisin bran with 1 c skim milk
#2: teriyaki beef with 1 c steamed rice and teriyaki sauce
#3: South Beach chocolate crisp meal replacement bar

#6: 1 c whole grain raisin bran with 1 c skim milk

Workout:
None, but really running around with McKenna all day and getting her in and out of the car about seven times was enough of a workout.

Supplement:
none today

Comments:
My free meal was very tasty...P and I went to Studio Movie Grill and saw Chronicles of Narnia while we chowed on our junk food. It was great. The MRB that I bought at Walgreen's while I was out was not a great choice, but considering the alternative (Combos or a candy bar) it was better than nothing. I was really hoping that they had Luna bars. I love those.

Comment: Okay, not the best choice for a snack, but dang it, I was starving and nothing else looked good, plus I had a serious headache and needed some caffeine. Yes, I'm hopeless. But my jeans that I bought yesterday at Old Navy? Quite loose today...in fact, I was pulling them up all day long. Might not be long until I have to go back and get the next size down...

Comments: I also picked at the chocolate cake all day today. *rolling eyes* What is WRONG with me. It's like I have no willpower to get on this clean. You would think that a 10 lb loss would motivate me. You would think that going to Old Navy today and having to buy a pair of jeans three sizes up from my pre-preg size would motivate me. But no. I'm just hungry, hungry, hungry, and not for anything clean. But at least I am in my first pair of NON-MATERNITY jeans!!!!! YAY!

one hour of Baby Bjorn walking

Comments: To say I was shocked this morning when I got on the scale was an understatement. I kept moving it around and trying it again. Ten pounds in one week is just nuts...and...it's just water weight. It is physically IMpossible to lose that much weight in seven days unless it is water. What can I say...pregnancy does weird things to your body! But I was craving chocolate today in a horrible way...and was really cranky. I'm curious as to whether or not my period may be resuming...even though I'm nursing, not everyone avoids starting up cycles again for the entire time that they are nursing. Anyway, not a wonderful eating day, but not horrible either. My legs are really sore from all the walking.

Day 7

Eats:

#1: omega 3 egg + three whites, whole wheat toast with butter spray and whole fruit jam

Snack: 1/2 c of low-fat sugar-free mint chocolate chip ice cream

#5: 1 c whole-grain rice cereal, banana, 1 c skim milk
#6: two sticks of 2% string cheese

Drinks:
diet Cherry Coke x 3
glass of iced tea x 4
diet Coke with lime

Workout:
45 minutes of Baby Bjorn walking

Supplements:

Comments: I don't really have any today other than a pair of denim capris that I haven't worn in a while fit today. They are still maternity pants, but the fact that I was able to put them on and wear them comfortably was a feat. It's progress. I am pumping like a maniac right now to get ready for when my daughter starts daycare, so I was especially hungry tonight.

Day 6

Eats
#1: egg + 4 whites, three strips of lean bacon, two slices of whole wheat toast with butter spray and whole fruit jam

#2: 3 c microwave popcorn, two sticks of 2% string cheese
...and this is where I crashed and burned...
Appetizer: cheese fries with Ranch dressing

#3: bayou grilled shrimp, seasoned steamed rice, baby carrots, two rolls with butter, and salad with Ranch dressing
Dessert: Ghiradelli brownie with vanilla ice cream

Drinks:
glass of iced tea x 8 (I kinda lost count)
diet cherry Coke x 2
glass of lemon lime sparking water

Workout:
I walked around our neighborhood for about forty minutes with a baby weighing at least 13 lbs strapped to my chest in the Baby Bjorn, which is a HARD workout, surprisingly, so I've nicknamed it the Baby Bjorn Workout! Definitely going to do that some more!

Comments:
Needless to say, there will be no free day or free meal tomorrow. I just wasn't hungry much all day since we woke up super late, and then when I got to dinner out with my husband, it occurred to me that it was New Year's Eve, I grew an appetite, and voila, it was all she wrote. But one of the lessons I learned when I did BFL in 2003 is that you can't live your life with six clean days and one bad free for all, so I'm moving on tomorrow and trying to do better. That's all I can do, right? That's all ANY of us can do! But I'm not anticipating that I lost any weight this week...if I lost anything, it might have been a couple of pounds of water which I'm SURE tonight's carbfest put right back on.

Day 5

Eats:

#1: 1 c whole grain rice cereal with 1 c skim milk and banana
#2: chocolate protein shake with 1 c skim milk and banana
#3: Lean Cuisine chicken with penne pasta and broccoli
#4: two sticks 2% string cheese, apple, and nonfat coconut pudding
#5: 6 oz strip steak, baked potato with canola oil butter spread, and French bread
#6: 2% string cheese and sugar-free fat-free fudgesicle

Drinks:
16 oz. Coke x 2
Plantation Mint herbal tea with skim milk and Splenda
2 quarts of iced tea with Splenda
glass of lemon-lime sparkling water

glass of Riesling white wine

Workout:
I walked the dogs again...I worked until 1 am so not much of a choice.

Comments:
I hope today was the last of my crazy all-day workathons...working eleven hours plus nursing McKenna does NOTHING for me.

Friday, December 30, 2005

32 oz glass of iced tea with Splenda
glass of iced tea x 4
diet Cherry Coke

Supplements:
fenugreek and prenatal vitamin

Workout: I missed it again...walked the dogs. Work is really impeding on my gym time!

Comments: At least I got a decent meal at Chili's, but missing my Lean Cuisine mid-afternoon caused me to be starving and I ate chips and salsa for an appetizer. *sigh* But my pants were a lot looser on me yesterday...I'm sure it was water weight.
